Rocket Center Executive/Business committees to meet today

Members of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission’s (ASSEC) Executive and Business committees are set to meet later today at 3:30 pm. This will be the first time commission members have met since a New York judge confirmed a $1.3 million dollar arbitration award against the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in early March.

In a bit of surprise, the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Finance Authority has also scheduled a meeting with just three days notice at 4:30 pm today. According to Alabama law, the finance authority was established to assist the rocket center with financing the acquisition of land, constructing and equipping facilities and leasing center facilities to ASSEC or other parties. (AL Code § 41-10-301 (2017))

While no preliminary agenda has been posted, it is expected that the finance authority will approve minutes from their last meeting in 2017, confirm the appointment of Tony Zana to the authority to fill the spot vacated by Col. Roosevelt J. Lewis (USAF Ret.) and will nominate and elect officers.
